Principal's Message

Welcome To Orlando Gifted Academy!
Mrs. Britt Despenza

We are central Florida's only public gifted magnet school. We serve approximately 280 students in grades 2-6 (7th grade will be added in 2020-2021 and 8th grade in 2021-2022). All of our students are in the Gifted Program and have an EP (Educational Plan). Our goal is to provide a quality education through shared responsibility in a safe and supportive environment for all students to meet the challenges of a global society.

Orlando Gifted Academy meets the diverse needs of our student population, including support in social emotional and academics. We have two full time Behavior Specialists and a full time Guidance Counselor to support students social-emotional and behavioral needs.

Our middle school students have the option to participate in before school intramural sports. OGA students can participate in team sports that are offered by Orange County Public Schools. Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, middle school students can chose from the following courses as electives: Advanced Academics (Gifted Studies), French, Physical Education, Chorus, World Music Drumming, Art 2D I, Art 2D 2, and Introduction to Career and Technology Planning. OGA also provides courses from Project Lead the Way, including: Engineering Technology, Medical Detectives, Design and Modeling, and Flight and Space.

OGA students have the opportunity to participate in National Elementary Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society. We also have students who participate SECME, Math Olympiad, Science Olympiad, and Girls Who Code.

We are “Committed to Excellence”, and we work hard to make this website a primary source for timely information for all users, and a main gateway for improved communication between parents, teachers, students and other members of our community. Our goal and responsibility is to help each student develop an enthusiasm for learning, a respect for self and others, and the skills to become a creative independent thinker and problem solver.
